Boredom is the mother of Creation
I managed to dislocate my knee playing football on Saturday, which has meant that I've been home on the couch with my leg in a spint and bored as hell. So I thought I'd get back to image making!
I've been playing around with Cinema 4D (3D CGI software) recently and I wanted to play around with the idea of creating some sort of alien/UFO short film.
I've taken this time out to try out a few different looks for the film... below are some of the images I've come up with. I designed and built the UFO in Cinema 4D and then composited the images in Photoshop and After Effects. If there is anyone out there reading this, it would be cool if I could get some feedback on which look you like the best, if any!

New Equipment... finally!
The last couple of weeks I've been collecting a bunch of equipment. I bought a Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod and Konova Camera Slider, as well as a Hague Stabiliser for all those handheld video shots. All I needed was a new camera.
I've been dying to get my hands on my very own Canon 7D, but for a while I was convinced I could wait until the next release, hoping they'd upgrade the video capabilities. Its been 2 years since the initial release and they is news or speculation that it'll be upgraded within the next 2 years, as there is a whole bunch cameras in the Canon DSLR range that need to be upgraded first. Anyway, I convinced myself that now was the right time. So I did it... and I haven't looked back!
I have a good feeling the next few posts will show you my experiments with my new toys. Hope you like.

Los Muertos update #1
Last week I posted an introductory image of los Muertos familia (The Dead family), who my new animated web series, Los Muertos Tendran Su Dia (The Dead Will Have Their Day), will be based around.
Over the coming weeks / months / years, I plan to keep a record of the production process as the idea and story develops further.
At the moment, I've just been concentrating on developing the a set for the living room.
The work area. Got the camp lights out... they do an alright job for now, but I'm planning to upgrade a lot of my equipment during this process. |
I made this couch and stuffed it with cuttings from an old t-shirt. I then covered it with old material The Wife had lying around house. |
Cute little coffee table, made from coloured matchsticks. The rug is part of a table place mat set that I found my at local charity store. |
Little side table and picture frames. |
The curtains were made from actual life size curtains I found dumped on the street. |
